Versus air WSOP Circuit action

wsop-las-vegasVersus has revealed that it will broadcast two one hour episodes of the WSOP circuit every Thursday night at 9pm culminating in a broadcast of the national championship at Caesars Palace on June 30th.

A series of high stake tournaments

WSOP Circuit is a series of 16 individual poker tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $ 200 to $ 10, 000 which take place in properties owned by Caesars throughout the United States. Players receive points for each payment with those at the top of the rankings, or who win or by reaching the final table of the qualification events for the WSOP National Circuit Championship, which will take place at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, a few days before the start of the WSOP.

An extraordinary year for WSOP

This year-s circuit began on August 19th at the Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs in Iowa finishing nine months later on May 22nd at Harrah’s in New Orleans. “It was an extraordinary year for the WSOP circuit with many incredible stories and improbable results”, said Ty Stewart, Executive Director for the WSOP. With the Stanley Cup playoffs coming to an end on Versus, we look forward to filling a weekly ‘prime-time’ slot every Thursday evening in June.’

TV programming to come

Versus is broadcast to more than 76 million households throughout the United States and said that the WSOP circuit programming will be broadcast in July and August. Viewers are invited to check their local programming for more details. ‘We are very pleased to be able to present the WSOP Circuit to a national audience,’ said Jeff Goldberg, Vice President of programming for Versus. “The WSOP Circuit is one of the most successful in the business and we knew that it was a great opportunity for our first foray into the coverage of poker tournaments.”
